Some I know, will prefer the more "blue" rendition below - but above, my FINAL rendition using "teal" colour for the OIII emission.
The old supernova remnant SNR G179.0+2.6 in the constellation Auriga is dominated by OIII emissions. They form a mixture of diffuse and filamentary structures that together form a round closed shell with a diameter of about 70 arcmin - about two full moons to our eyes. The OIII signal is actually quite weak - but the Ha is much weaker again.
Although I have invested a lot of time in the data capture – I would like much more time on this one for sure. Perhaps better imaged from a dark location rather than from my back yard – but therein lies the satisfaction in having this image at all!
