Takahashi FSQ 106 ED
I spent some time looking at images on the internet and was watching carefully at the scopes people were using. After all, in the beginning one has no idea what to buy - what is suitable or not. Remember that I had realised that the Alt/Azimuth Meade LX200, great for visual for a real beginner, was not a suitable base to start out in astrophotography. I had set my heart on the FSQ 106 - so many great reports and as far as I was concerned, capable of great images.
These scopes are really specially designed for the amateur astrphotographer. These is no need to start going through the specs - I will include it below, but suffice it to say that you get what you pay for. In that, these scopes are not cheap. I was not about to pay out the huge outlay required when I really had insufficient knowledge about where all this was taking me. Waiting patiently, one eventually came up for sale, second hand in the U.K. I grabbed it!. I have never ever regretted that and although, now in early 2016, I have some thoughts on upgrading, I cannot recommend this scope enough.
Refer to Takahashi Europe (link above) to check the specifications. Contact me if you wish further info re how I made it work for me, how I connected to the mount and worked at getting my camera sitting at the correct distance behind the scope.
