SH2-140 & SH2-145
Sh2-140 (top right in this image) is an HII emission nebula on the southwest edge of the LDN 1204 dark nebula. It is also on the edge the Cephus Ring, a ring of molecular gas and dust. Invisible in this image, there are about fifty young stars deeply embedded in the dark gas below the bright SH2-140 area. This dark LDN 1204 nebula divides Sh2-140 from Sh2-145 which takes up the central part of the image.
